How to Take Out a Tool Box Drawer

Tool boxes and chests are ideal for storing many different hand tools including putty knives, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, vice grips, hammers, levels and several other tools. Like any other tool in your garage or shed, your tool box should be treated with regular maintenance to keep it from rusting or corroding. This includes spraying it periodically with a degreaser to clean it and lubricating the drawers to keep them opening and closing smoothly.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your tool box's drawer and empty the tools out of it. Set the tools aside while you remove the drawers.

    • 2

Locate the retaining tabs on either side of the drawer, holding the drawer on the glides, keeping it from coming out completely.

    • 3

Push up, down or side to side to determine how the tabs move. Pull the drawer out to its fullest open position once you know how to manipulate the tabs.

    • 4

Push the tabs in the same manner with both hands simultaneously, then pull the drawer out of the tool box. Set the drawer aside to lubricate the glides inside the recess. Put the drawer back in when done.
