How to Apply Butylene Tape

Butylene tape is a form of rubber caulk that looks very similar to duct tape. It holds hard and well over smooth or irregular surfaces, and the tape stands up to stress and the elements given the compounds that it's made of. So using the tape it simple, but you need to be sure that you get the tape on smooth and straight, because it has quite a holding factor on it.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean off the surface so that there's no dirt or grime to get in the way of the tape holding. Otherwise the butylene tape is less likely to maintain its hold.

    • 2

Pull a strip of tape out. Touch the tape as little as possible and press it smooth and flat so that it is tight and straight, with no air bubbles underneath the tape.

    • 3

Cut the tape off the roll and press it firmly against the area where you want it. Once the strip of tape is applied, continue and apply the next strip in the same way.
