A spanner wrench loosens or tightens parts, such as air nipples and air-control seats. You will also use the spanner wrench when replacing a cartridge, especially when unfastening the filter housing. A complete dismantling of the gun is not required after each use. You should only need to remove and clean the parts that had contact with paint: the nozzle, nozzle cap and the needle.
Unlike standard pliers, needlenose pliers do not damage fittings and are small enough to grab even the tiniest fittings on a spray gun. Serrations on the jaws ensure a firm grip on either smooth or hex nuts.
Use a screwdriver to loosen and tighten the control knobs. A screwdriver with replacement bits for screws and nuts is best for this purpose, as a spray gun has different sizes and types of screws on its various parts.
An Allen key, also called an Allen wrench or hex wrench, is a small tool used on recessed hex bolts. Professional versions of this tool typically come in a set containing different sizes. Some spray gun models require the use of one or more Allen keys to disassemble interior components.
