Installation Assembly Guide on the Hitachi Band 1/2-inch Saw Blade

Although Hitachi is largely known for manufacturing state-of-the-art electronics, it also has a division that makes power tools. One of these is the company's band saw, which has a 1/2-inch blade. A band saw has one long flexible blade belt that spins on wheels when it is powered up. Kick back, a dangerous hazard if the saw catches on a knot or imperfection in the wood, can occur if the blade is not kept sharpened and tight on the saw's pulley system.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the saw from the wall socket before making any repairs or adjustments.

    • 2

Remove the table insert and the aligning pin and unlock the table lock knobs under the table.

    • 3

Open the wheel cover door and then use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the upper wheel guard in place.

    • 4

Loosen the top tension knob by turning the it counterclockwise.

    • 5

Remove the old blade from the upper and lower blade guides and the wheels. Drape the new belt back over the wheels and blade guides. Once the new blade is in place turn the top tension knob clockwise until it is tight.

    • 6

Replace the upper wheel guard, lock the table lock knobs and then replace the inset and the table aligning pin. Close the wheel cover door.

    • 7

Plug the saw back in and test it.
