How to Adjust the Fence on a Bosch 4000

The Bosch 4000 is a convenient, portable table saw. With an adjustable fence, the Bosch 4000 makes it easy to rip boards for home improvement or remodeling projects. To make safe, accurate cuts, the fence must remain perfectly parallel to the cutting blade. If the fence is out of alignment, adjusting it is easy and doesn't require any special tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Bosch 4000 from the wall socket. Raise the blade to its highest level by turning the elevation wheel clockwise until it stops.

    • 2

Raise the fence-lock handle and slide the fence up against the blade.

    • 3

Loosen the two screws on top of the fence.

    • 4

Adjust the fence so it touches the teeth at the front and back edge of the saw blade evenly. Ensure the fence is parallel to the saw blade.

    • 5

Hold the fence in place with one hand and lower the lock handle with the other hand. Ensure the fence is parallel to the saw blade.

    • 6

Continue holding the fence and tighten the two screws on top of the fence.

    • 7

Check the fence to make sure it clamps securely to the table.

    • 8

Raise the fence-lock handle and tighten the clamp adjustment screw at the rear of the fence if the fence does not clamp properly. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase clamping force and counterclockwise to decrease clamping force. Check the fence for proper clamping after each adjustment.
