Press the battery lock tabs on the battery, and then remove the battery pack from the Ryobi planer. This prevents the planer from turning on while you service it.
Pull the dust-collection bag off the left side of the Ryobi planer and place it off to the side. This gives you full access to the black plastic housing cover that protects the drive belt.
Remove the screws that hold the cover onto the housing of the Ryobi planer with a Phillips screwdriver, and then place the cover off to the side. This exposes the drive belt.
Grip the belt at both ends and carefully pull the belt off both pulleys. You will notice that the pulleys and belt both have deep grooves cut into them. This prevents the belt from slipping on the pulleys.
Position the back edge of the replacement drive belt against the front edges of both pulleys and line the grooves up on the belt with the grooves on the pulleys.
Slide the belt onto the pulleys until the front edge of the belt lines up with the front edge on the pulleys.
Place the cover back onto the housing of the Ryobi planer, and secure it with the screws and Phillips screwdriver.
Slide the dust-collection bag onto the dust port on the left side of the planer, and then reconnect the battery pack.
