How to Identify a Paslode Finish Nailer

Air-powered nail guns have revolutionized the construction industry. Instead of driving each nail by hand, carpenters increase the productivity and quality of work by using compressed-air-powered pneumatic nailers. As cordless battery-powered drills and saws became popular, Paslode designed a "cordless" gas-powered air nailer, which eliminates the need for the heavy compressor and air hose. Identifying these tools in the work place is relatively simple.

Check for the Paslode name somewhere on the tool. Usually stamped into the steel or attached as an adhesive sticker, the manufacturer's name is located on the side of the main drive piston housing. Manufacturers want customers to recognize their tools, so they boldly display the company name on the tool.

Check the tool's color. Across the power tool universe, manufacturers use the same brightly colored plastic or painted metal to identify their tools. DeWalt used bright yellow. Makita tools are molded out of a turquoise blue plastic. Paslode tools are constructed from a bright safety orange. Even the older metal bodied tools usually feature orange trim on the tool.

Bring the tool to a local lumber yard or tool service and repair center. If the tool features no markings whatsoever, the knowledgeable help behind the desk at a local lumber yard or power tool service center should be able to identify a tool for you.
