Instructions for an Ideal Conduit Bender

When you run electrical conduit, it may be necessary to make some bends to follow the wall or ceiling and go around pipes or other obstacles. A tool of choice to make these bends is an Ideal conduit bender. This bender allows you to manually bend conduit at precise angles. It consists of a sturdy handle and head with angles and other reference points marked on it. With an Ideal conduit bender, you can quickly bend conduit into a streamlined and professional appearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of conduit needed up to the bend. Subtract 6 inches from this measurement and place a mark on the conduit at this location.

    • 2

Insert the conduit through the Ideal conduit bender's head. Line up the arrow on the head with the mark on the conduit.

    • 3

Place your foot on the head's back edge. Pull on the handle while applying gentle pressure with your foot. Continue to pull until the conduit on the ground lines up with the appropriate angle marking on the conduit bender or, for a 90-degree bend, until the bend portion sticks straight up. Hold a level on the conduit to make sure it sticks straight up.

    • 4

Pull the conduit out of the Ideal conduit bender's head and either mount it in the appropriate location or measure for another bend.
