How to Cut Plywood With the Dremel Multi-Max

The founder of the Dremel Company, Albert J. Dremel, invented the rotary tool in the 1930s. Dremel is currently owned by the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. The Multi-Max is an oscillating tool with which homeowners and craftsmen can tackle many projects. By changing the attachments, the operator can cut, sand, remove grout, scrape and grind. Cutting a sheet of plywood is accomplished with the Wood Flush Cut Blade. Installing the blade on the Multi-Max is done by inserting it on the end of the tool and tightening it with an Allen wrench.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark a cut line on the plywood with a straightedge and pencil. Lay the plywood on a work bench so that the cut line is hanging over the edge.

    • 2

Install the Dremel Wood Flush Cut Blade onto the end of the Multi-Max. This is done by inserting the blade on the tip of the cutter and tightening the bolt with an Allen wrench.

    • 3

Plug the Multi-Max into an outlet and start the tool at medium speed for optimal control.

    • 4

Align the Multi-Max's blade with the cut line and hold at a 45-degree angle.

    • 5

Push the tip of the blade into the wood along the line. Increase the tool's speed to its maximum setting.

    • 6

Guide the blade's tip along the cut line by applying gentle forward pressure. Continue cutting until you reach the end of the cut line.
