How to Make Bricks Out of Plaster for Interior Accent Walls

Although an interior accent wall is not a load-bearing wall, avoid using traditional drywall plaster when molding bricks for the construction of the wall. Drywall plaster will crumble and deteriorate at a faster pace than stringer plaster products, such as dental plaster. When molding bricks, visit your local home and garden center for a selection of paver brick molds you can use to create your project.

Instructions

    • 1

Line the mold with a plastic mold liner or with plastic wrap. The liner makes it easier to get the plaster out of the mold.

    • 2

Mix the plaster per the instructions provided with the specific type and brand of plaster you chose. In general, you will need a 5-gallon bucket, plaster mix and water. The mixing ratio of plaster to water will vary.

    • 3

Fill the mold with plaster and then level the top of the plaster in the mold with a trowel. Allow 24 hours drying time.

    • 4

Hold the open end of the mold in your hand and flip the mold over to release the plaster brick from the mold.
