How to Disassemble a Jitterbug Orbital Sander

A Jitterbug sander, model TL1005, is a type of orbital sander, like the one manufactured by Campbell Hausfeld, an Ohio-based company specializing in air compressors and air compressor-powered tools. Jitterbug sanders are powered by air compressors via a hose that connects from the air compressor to the inlet on the back side of the sander. The Jitterbug is commonly used on both wood and automotive body repairs. If the Jitterbug needs to be repaired or serviced, it may need to be disassembled.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the air hose on the sander by pushing the chuck in slightly, pulling back on the metal chuck sleeve and then pulling the air chuck off.

    • 2

Flip the sandpaper spring holder into the "up" position and remove the sandpaper. Also slide the foam backing pad off the base of the sander.

    • 3

Use a screwdriver to take off the screws on the top of the air motor box located between the palm trigger and the sander base. This will separate the sander's base from the rest of the body.

    • 4

Remove the screws holding the palm trigger to the air motor box and then set the palm trigger aside.

    • 5

Remove the air motor box casing screws to access the inside of the air motor.
