Troubleshooting a Ryobi Nail Gun

Ryobi nail guns, also called Ryobi nail finishers, are pneumatic guns that drive nails into wood around 70 to 120 pounds per square inch. Nail guns are useful tools in carpentry and remodeling because they make driving nails a quicker process than driving with a hammer. Woodworkers and homebuilders also use nail guns to expedite projects and make driving nails a less intensive task. Troubleshooting tips and problem-solving methods are available for times when you experience trouble with your Ryobi nail gun.

Instructions

    • 1

Tighten all of the screws on the nail gun. Loose screws can cause air leaks, which cause the gun to lose driving power and functionality.

    • 2

Lubricate the nail gun using Ryobi's provided nail gun lubricant. Lubricant will help the nail gun operate smoothly, quickly and without jams. If you don't own or cannot locate the provided lubricant, most home improvement stores sell replacement nail gun lubricant.

Install new fasteners. Improperly sized or overused fasteners will cause your nail gun to jam. Jams may cause injury or further mechanical problems in your Ryobi gun.
