Commercial Electric Recessed Lighting Products

Commercial Electric is a brand of lighting products made for The Home Depot stores. The line includes recessed light kits, flush-mount lights, vanity lights and chandeliers. It also includes housing, trim pieces, hanger bars and tool kits for installation of recessed lights. Different types of recessed lights are made for a variety of purposes such as general lighting, task lighting or accent lighting.
  1. Kits

    • Many Commercial Electric recessed lights are available as kits. They vary in size, compatibility with dimmers, quality of materials and appearance. Determine the right products for your needs according to your budget and lighting requirements. Different kits include steel or aluminum housing, thermal guards, clips, hanger bars, fixed or adjustable lamp heads, light bulbs and baffle trim in various finishes including white, black, brushed nickle and brushed copper.

    New Construction Versus Remodels

    • New construction projects and remodels require different methods of recessed lighting installation. If you are building a home, look for products with clips and bar hangers made specifically for new construction. Often, they will include quick connect wire nuts and adjustable hanger bars. You may need to purchase some products separately. For remodels, many products come with quick connect clips and templates for cutting through ceiling materials. Always determine the specific needs of your project before purchasing recessed lighting products.

    Bulbs

    • Each type of Commercial Electric recessed light requires a specific type of light bulb. Determine the type of light quality you want, the efficiency of the bulb, how expensive they are to replace and the heat they may produce before deciding which is best for your application. Some bulb options include LED bulbs, GU24 compact fluorescents, GU10 bulbs and PAR 16, 20 and 30 incandescents in various wattage.

    Other Considerations

    • Products are available to meet many specific needs. Look for kits compatible with areas of high moisture, those that help prevent airflow from the attic, thermal guard for added safety against hot light bulbs, pre-wired parts, quick connect fasteners, reflective surfaces for optimum illumination, additional joint support and energy-saving features.
