Unplug the jointer from its electrical outlet. Rotate the cutter blade manually so one of the blades rests in a vertical position. Place the precision square on the in-feed table so half the square rests over the table and half rests over the top of the cutter blade.
Lower or raise the out-feed table until the cutter blade just touches the bottom of the square. When you slide the square left and right, you should feel a slight drag from the cutter blade.
Slide the square from the back edge of the blade closest to the fence to the front of the blade closest to the guard. You should feel the same amount of drag when sliding the square back and forth at the front and back of the blade. If not, you must adjust the table level.
Loosen the jam nuts on the “table ways” located along the front edge of the table with a wrench, then turn the set screws with an Allen wrench to adjust the table's levelness. Continually check the table with a precision square until the table is level, then tighten the jam nuts on the table ways.
Loosen the fence adjustment lever located on the right side of the machine. (Loosen the adjustment lever by rotating it slightly counterclockwise.)
Place the precision square on the in-feed table just to the left of the cutter blade assembly and then butt the other side of the square up against the fence. Look at the edges of the square where it rests against the fence. Reposition the fence so you cannot see any gaps between the square and fence and between the square and in-feed table.
Tighten the fence adjustment lever by turning it counterclockwise.
