Set the regulator on your air compressor to a PSI setting between 57 and 85 PSI. This is the optimum setting for pneumatic tools. The lower the pressure, the slower the grinding wheel will spin.
Attach the necessary grinder or wire wheel to your grinder. Use a grinding wheel for cutting metal or wood. Use a wire wheel if you plan to use the grinder to remove rust from a metal surface.
Drop two or three drops of pneumatic air-tool oil into the hole on the male quick disconnect coupler located on the handle of the grinder. The oil lubricates the internal gearing and prevents malfunction.
Secure the female quick disconnect adaptor onto the male quick disconnect adaptor on the grinder. The two couplers simply snap together.
Press the trigger on the grinder and then adjust the regulator to a speed you are comfortable with. However, do not surpass the PSI requirements listed in step 1.
Place the grinding disc against the surface you plan to grind while you pull the trigger. Keep in mind: If you are grinding metal, you will get sparks. Hold the grinder at an angle that throws the sparks away from you if possible. Stop periodically to check your work. You can always take more metal off your project. However, it is much harder to add metal back if you take too much off.
