Oster 310 Pipe Machine Parts

Oster Machines has been building the Oster line of pipe threading machines since 1893. In that time, the complete line of power threaders and pipe tools has grown and adapted to suit the needs of the evolving industrial world, producing three distinct classes of power threaders and pipe tools in the Oster line: portables, stationary and obsolete. The Oster 310 is a portable table-top pipe threading machine that is now within the obsolete line.
  1. Motor

    • The 1/2 HP motor mounts on four cap screws that extend through the face of the housing, below the front chuck. The motor features a reversible, variable speed, universal motor that operates on 115 volts, 25-to-60 cycle single-phase alternating current. The rear chuck assembly is removed first to remove the motor, then the spindle and front chuck slide forward to expose two front cap screws.

    Dieheads

    • A critical part of any pipe cutting or threading machine is the die head and dies. Oster 310 machines feature either a "Universal" die head or a "Quadversal" die head. The general
procedures of removal and insertion of dies and the adjustment of the head to proper thread size are the same for both types.

    Dies

    • A critical part of an Oster pipe cutting or threading machine are the dies. The Oster 310 pipe machines holds four dies simultaneously. Each die is inserted in a slot that corresponds to the number stamped on each die (1, 2, 3 or 4). For threading bolts or solid stock, set the cam to the line marked "Bolt."

    Coolant System

    • The Oster 310 features an oil-cooled system to maintain engine temperature and catch metal filings. Oil level in the sump should be kept at least 1 inch above intake screen. The sump is drained by periodically removing the pipe plug from hole and draining the cutting oil from the sump.
