How to Calculate Board Feet on My ProjectCalc Tutorial

A ProjectCalc is a calculator that makes conversions for ordering building materials for lumber, rock, concrete, drywall and gardening supplies. Some lumber yards sell their products in board feet. Instead of ordering the amount of boards you need by their size you need to know the total board feet needed for your project. The board feet of a board is the volume of cubic inches or the thickness times the width times the length. Inputting the information correctly into a ProjectCalc will supply you with the board feet figure you need to order your materials.

For example, if you are using 2-foot-by-4-foot boards that are 12 feet long, you input the dimensions in this manner: "2 Inch x 4 Inch x 12 Feet =."
