How to Hook Up the Water Pump on a Tile Saw

A tile saw us a tool used to cut through denser forms of tile that is made of materials such as natural stone or clay. Used correctly, a tile saw will make precision cuts quickly, but this speed along with the density of the tiles generates heat in the saw blade that can quickly cause dullness or warping. To prevent the blade from overheating, a tile saw often uses water as a coolant, pumped down the blade and across the tile itself. Hooking up the water pump is a simple matter, only requiring that you connect the proper hose from the pump into the body of the saw.

Instructions

    • 1

Install the water tray into the slot along the bottom of the tile saw on top of the saw stand. Slide the tray into the slot with the cutout in the tray on the same side of the stand as the stand wheels. Press down on the stand once it's fully into the slot, lowering it onto the pins in the stand to lock the tray into place.

Set the water pump into the pump-shaped indention in the tray. Press down to lock the pump into place. Run the power cord of the pump along the cord groove in the tray and out of the cutout in the side of the tray.

Run the water hose from the rear of the blade assembly/motor down the body of the unit and through the small hole at the top of the saw frame leading to the water tray beneath. Slide the hose into the clips on the side of the assembly body along the route to hold the hose in place.

Attach the end of the water hose from the blade assembly/motor to the intake hole in the pump. Run the pump’s power cord attached to the rear of the pump out the rear of the tray and up the back of the blade assembly motor body. Use the clips on the back of the motor body to hold the pump cord in place. Attach the pump’s power cord to the pump plug attached to the motor.
