How to Convert to a TIG Welder

When performing welding applications, you can use different tools to combine metal materials together. Certain welding tools, such as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welders, use an argon gas to create a solid weld seam along metal. You can create your own TIG welder by converting a stick welder or DC inverter arc into a TIG welder by changing the positive and negative power outputs on the welding machines.

Things You'll Need

  • Flowmeter
  • Argon gas
  • Power block
  • Torch
  • Welding machine clamp

Instructions

    • 1

Place an argon gas canister onto a flowmeter by screwing the large threaded hose end into the canister valve opening. Place the canister in a safe place in your work shed.

    • 2

Connect the small threaded end of the flowmeter onto the power block's large open end. Connect the torch onto the power block's small open end.

    • 3

Place the welding machine's clamp onto the rounded ring on the power block. Attach the other end into the negative socket on your welding machine.
