Find the center point for your piece of square wood. Measure with the tape measure across the length of the wood in one direction. Divide that measurement in half and mark it in the center of the board. Repeat the process for the other side to give you a crosshairs mark in the center of the piece of wood. Drive a nail into the center mark.
Determine how wide you want your circular table to be. Tie a piece of string to the nail in the center of your board. Attach the pencil to the opposite end of your string line using the measurement for how wide you want the overall circular table top to be. Pull the string taught and mark the outline of the circle with the pencil by pulling the string line around the wood, using the nail as a pivot point.
Put on your safety glasses. Remove the nail and the string line from the wood. Set the piece of wood on top of a pair of sawhorses with the tops of the cutting platforms resting under the edge of the circular section so it doesn’t fall when you cut it. Place the jigsaw blade along the edge of the wood, pull the trigger and guide the blade through the wood as you cut your way around the circle using your pencil line as a reference point.
