Read the safety tips and instruction process. Gather all the required tools, equipment and materials before you start. If you feel that the process would take a long time and would be tedious for you, ask a friend or family member for help. Check for plumbing and electrical lines in the garage and ensure that your breaking-down process will not clash with any of these.
View the garage construction plans, if available, to understand the process of tearing it down. The construction of each garage varies largely, and you should always start from the top and move your way down in the breaking-down process. In no situation should you risk the chance of debris falling on you.
Start by pulling the roof apart, wearing the heavy gloves and hat. These will protect the hands and the head while pulling out nails and screws. Use the pry bar for pulling them out, but make sure you contain the old nails safely. Littering the area will only cause safety hazards.
Create a scaffold by placing a huge board across the articulating ladders. Use the saw to cut away the tougher pieces of wood, and make your way to the center of the roofing.
Pull off the exterior trims prior to removal of the siding. Fit the saw blade in the middle of siding and studs for easier disassembling.
Pry out the cross members as the garage roof reduces to a frame. Now you can commence with knocking down the wall. Use a maul for the process and keep away from the wall as much as possible while breaking it down.
Loading the disassembled garage should be done with safety in mind. Make sure you load up the scraps from the garage very carefully.
