Draw a simple rectangle on your paper, sized small enough so that you can see any details (about two inches by one half inch is suggested). Draw two parallel lines that run horizontally through the center of the rectangle (use the ruler to make straight lines).
Erase the outer rectangle so that now all you have is the thin parallel lines. From the left underside of the bottom parallel line, draw another small line half the length of the line above it. Add another vertical line that separates the lines into two equal halves.
Erase the very top line on the left hand side. You should now have what looks like "steps," or a straightedge zigzag line, represented by two bar shapes. On the end of the left-hand bar, draw a backwards "C" shape. Draw a regular "C" shape on the right-end bar.
Practice this sliding door blueprint symbol a few times on scratch paper to ensure you know how to do it correctly. When you’re comfortable, draw the same shape on the blueprints to signify to the contractor where you’d like your sliding doors to be placed.
