Outdoor Built-in Grill Ideas

Grills are necessary if you want to do any outdoor cooking or barbecuing. On their own they are a very useful tool for cooking, roasting and adding smoke flavors to your cooking, along with holding outdoor parties in your yard. A grill that is built into some part of your landscape, however, becomes both a useful tool and part of your design plan, a way to impress guests. You can integrate a grill into your outdoor plans in a number of ways.
  1. Patio Integration

    • Patio integration is one of the easiest ways to build a grill into other structures. If you have a brick patio, you can simply build the brick up in a certain section to include the grill. If your patio is made from pavers, you have a choice between a grill made of different materials like concrete or one carefully constructed from the patios themselves. Patio grills can be incorporated into islands, patio edges and peninsulas.

    Fire Pit Integration

    • A fire pit is a useful type of landscaping design that can be incorporated into components like patios, yet it also makes an ideal location for building a grill. You can create a structure that uses the heat from the pit on one side for warmth and light and on the other side for cooking over your grill. If you want an advanced version, you can also incorporate a chimney.

    Water Feature Integration

    • If you have a water feature near your patio or house, combine the water feature with your grill. You can make your grill part of your waterfall, or attach the grill to one end of your pool, which works well if the pool borders and the grill are made of the same material, but you must always ensure that the separate sections are well sealed.

    Create an Outdoor Kitchen

    • Outdoor kitchens incorporate not only grills but also storage space, sinks, refrigerators and many other components that are found in an indoor kitchen. Outdoor kitchens can be useful and enjoyable if you do a lot of outdoor entertaining and live in a climate that is mild and rain free for most of the year. They also cost much more money than a simple grill, so be prepared for the extra cost.
