Look inside the island cabinetry and locate the cabinetry's frame, known as studs. Plan to mount one support on each stud. Transfer the stud location to the cabinetry's outside.
Set the first countertop support in the appropriate location underneath the countertop. One side presses against the countertop's underside while the other presses against the island cabinetry. Mark the screw holes on the side against the island cabinetry. If the countertop is not granite, mark those screw holes as well. Repeat this step with the remaining supports in their appropriate locations, and then set aside all the supports.
Drill pilot holes through each of the screw hole markings. Use a pilot bit slightly smaller in diameter than the lag screws you are using for mounting the supports. To determine the appropriate lag screw size, measure a screw hole's diameter and select a lag screw one size smaller.
Apply a countertop adhesive on one of the support's sides that is placed against the countertop's underside. Line up the support's screw holes with a set of pilot holes. Drive a lag screw through each pilot hole using a drill and lag-screw driver. Repeat this step with the remaining countertop supports.
