Locate the wall studs behind the sink area with an electronic stud finder. You will need to have at least two studs in this area to safely hang the sink. Wave the stud finder in front of the wall. It will indicate the location of the stud either with a laser or on a display readout. Mark the spots with a pencil.
Measure for each bracket. The standard spacing between wall studs is 16 inches. Each bracket will have to go into a stud. Ideally, the brackets should be placed on each end of the sink, with the bowl centered in the middle. If the sink is large enough to span three studs, a center bracket can also be used.
Install the first sink bracing bracket. Center the bracket over the first wall stud. Insert a heavy screw through the hole in the bracket and tighten it into the wall with a cordless screwdriver.
Install the second bracket. Center this bracket over the second stud. Standard spacing between wall studs is 16 inches, which is ideal for the distance between brackets for large sinks. Insert your screw and attach it to the stud in the wall.
Place the cast iron sink on the brackets. The sink brackets will have little clips that will catch and support the sink. Slowly raise up the sink and lower it onto the brackets. Check underneath to make sure that the clips caught the edges. Make sure the sink is also seated properly into the sink base cabinet for further support.
