How to Install a Stainless Steel Undermount Sink to a Corian Countertop

Undermount sinks are sinks that are installed by affixing the sink to the bottom of the countertop. This process provides a clean edge for the countertop around the perimeter of the sink, as the lip of the sink doesn't extend over the edge of the countertop. Installing an undermount stainless steel sink to your new DuPont Corian countertop can add an attractive, functional element to your kitchen.

Things You'll Need

  • Rag
  • 2-by-4 board
  • Tape measure
  • Circular saw
  • Epoxy (if not included with the sink)
  • Assistant

Instructions

    • 1

Clean dust off of the underside of the countertop, especially around the hole for the sink.

    • 2

Cut a 2-by-4 board to a length of 1 foot longer than the width of the sink. Later, you'll use this board to hold the clamps for the sink that you will place on the sink after it has been installed.

    • 3

Apply epoxy to the lip of the sink.

    • 4

Lift the sink into position underneath the countertop with the help of an assistant. Push the sink firmly against the countertop.

    • 5

Screw the metal clips that hold the sink against the countertop in place around the lip of the countertop.

    • 6

Lay the 2-by-4 board across the sink.

    • 7

Slide one end of a bar clamp into the drain hole and the other end to the 2-by-4, and then tighten the clamp. Use one clamp for each drain hole. Leave the clamps in place for 24 hours while the epoxy cures.

    • 8

Remove the bar clamp and 2-by-4 after the epoxy has set. Install the drain assembly and connect it to the drain pipe, following the manufacturer's instructions.
