Reinforcing Old Cabinets for Granite

Granite is among the top contenders in natural stone countertops. Its aesthetically pleasing natural features allow for an almost infinite number of possibilities for any homeowner. Cabinet reinforcement isn't always needed for granite countertops because the granite spreads its weight evenly throughout the whole countertop. However, if you have thicker sheets of granite (3/4 inch or more) or older, weaker cabinets, you should reinforce them to ensure a stable setting for your new countertops. Reinforcement is also needed if the countertop has naturally occurring fissures or other issues.
