Mark the measurements of the apron-front sink onto the interior sides of the cabinet where the sink will rest, on the cabinet’s interior back wall and on the front exterior of the cabinet. The height you need to mind when marking the dimensions is the distance from the bottom of the sides of the sink to where the top aligns with the surface of the countertop. These marks will serve as guidelines. You can find the measurements of the Whitehaus sink in the packet of information that comes with it, on the page that lists the product’s specifications.
Subtract 1/8 inch from the measurement you marked on the front exterior of the cabinet, or sink front. When you do this, the line at the front of the cabinet will be slightly lower than the line you drew along the cabinet's back wall. Use a jigsaw to cut out the front of the cabinet, along the guidelines you drew. The purpose of changing this measurement is to help ensure that the sink rests on the supports that you will install, not the sink front.
Cut the apron-front sink supports out of 2-by-4 lumber. You will need one ledger board that equals the width of the sink for the back of the cabinet. Then cut three vertical support pieces that equal the height from the base of the cabinet where you are going to install the sink and up to the horizontal line that you drew inside the cabinet, minus 1.5 inches.
Cut three more pieces of 2-by-2 lumber to serve as cross pieces that will span from the installed ledger board to the front of the cabinet.
Install the back ledger board so the flat side of the lumber is against the back of the cabinet. Use construction adhesive to affix the lumber to the back of the cabinet. Then use 1-5/8-inch square-drive deck screws to secure the lumber to the cabinet.
Install a 2-by-4 vertical support piece at each end of the ledger board, and install one in the center. Use construction adhesive to secure the thinner side of the vertical support piece that you cut to the ledger board, followed by deck screws.
Install the 2-by-2 crosspieces by placing construction adhesive on the square ends of the lumber that will touch the front and back cabinet walls. Line each crosspiece with a vertical support. Then secure each crosspiece to its respective support with a deck screw.
Place the sink into the opening to verify that it fits well and is level. If needed, place wooden shims to help adjust the level of the sink.
Install the plumbing fixtures onto the sink. Seal the gaps between the sink and the countertop and the front of the cabinet with waterproof silicone caulk.
