How to Install Granite Sink Tops

Granite can be an excellent material to choose for a sink. Because it's a natural stone, granite is very hard and durable and will likely resist dents and scratches. A granite sink top refers to a top-mount sink, which means it includes a rim around the edges and can simply be set in place on top of your countertop. Once your countertop is all prepared and the hole is the appropriate size for your new sink, the installation process is easier than with other types of sinks. However, granite is heavy, so you might need some help to lift it.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a bead of silicone caulk all the way around your countertop where the granite sink will be installed. This is needed to ensure the sink won't leak.

    • 2

Lift the granite sink and set it within the countertop hole. Make sure the top edge of the sink is set on top of the silicone caulk bead.

    • 3

Put together the brackets that came with the granite sink. One side will attach to the sink and the other to the countertop.

    • 4

Slip the brackets in place on either side of the sink from underneath the counter. The sink side will slide into place.

    • 5

Put a screw through the other side of the brackets, and screw it directly into the countertop to secure the brackets and the sink.

    • 6

Wait for the caulk to completely dry before you use the granite sink.
