Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes through the middle of the damaged board, being careful to stop drilling once the bit reaches the sub floor. Once you have finished drilling, use a hammer to drive a chisel into the holes you made, splitting the board down the center.

    • 2

Place a pry bar under the end of the board if it is warped enough you can fit the bar under it. Lift one side of the split board out of the floor, then the other.

    • 3

Hold the chisel at an angle, in the center split in the board, to further split the floorboard apart. Use the chisel to pry piece of the board out of the floor. Pull out the floorboard's nails from the floor using a hammer or drive them in flush with the sub floor if you cannot pull them out.

    • 4

Lay the new floorboard along the hole in the floor and use a pencil to mark the length of the opening in the floor. Use a table saw to trim the new floorboard to size. Clamp the floorboard to a workbench and use a hammer and chisel to remove the lower lip on the floorboard's groove.

    • 5

Apply construction adhesive to the underside of the new floorboard and hammer it into place in the floor, using a scrap piece of wood as a cushion between the floorboard and the hammer. Drive finishing nails through each end of the new floorboard.
