How to Install a Delta Sprayer

Kitchen sprayers are a convenient addition to your sink. When you press the trigger on the handle, a diverting valve opens and changes the flow of water from the faucet spout to the sprayer. The long water supply hose enables you to direct water exactly where you need it to clean or rinse your sink. A sprayer also helps you rinse large pots and pans that do not fit under the spout. Delta brand sprayers only require a few tools and a little time to install.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the tip of a flat-head screwdriver on the knockout plug on the right side of the faucet. Strike the screwdriver with a hammer to remove the metal sink knockout plug. If the plug is already open due to a previous sprayer installation, skip this step.

    • 2

Insert the sprayer support in the sprayer hole. Place a pair of adjustable pliers on the plastic nut under the support top and tighten it clockwise.

    • 3

Insert the hose end of the sprayer into the sprayer support with the sprayer handle on top of the support.

    • 4

Wrap three revolutions of plumbers tape clockwise around the male threads on the end of the hose under the sink.

    • 5

Screw the hose end into the valve body under the sink spout and tighten by hand. Then tighten the hose completely using a pair of adjustable pliers.

    • 6

Turn the water on and squeeze the trigger on the sprayer to check for water leaks. Tighten the hose to the valve body if it is leaking and retest the sprayer.
