How to Install a Kohler Single Lever Faucet in a Kitchen Sink

When installing a Kohler single-lever faucet, you should follow the same basic process and principles as you would when installing a two-knob faucet. With a single-lever faucet, the hot and cold water lines both feed into one main valve, which turns either on or off or mixes the two together. Traditional two-knob faucets have one separate valve for each water line and the mixing comes afterward as the water meets in the neck of the faucet. Installing a single-lever faucet requires some basic plumbing skills and tools.

Place the O-ring into the opening in your sink top if you are installing the faucet into a sink with only one top opening. The O-ring was included with your Kohler faucet packaging. If you are installing your faucet into a sink with three top openings, place your escutcheon over the three holes. Fill the bottom of your escutcheon with plumber's putty and press it down onto the surface of the sink. Wipe away any excess putty by using your clean rag. Slide the faucet into the opening on whichever mounting plate you have installed.

Slip the fiber washer (included) onto the threads hanging from the faucet bottom beneath the sink. Slip the metal washer (included) onto the same threads. Locate the plastic ring with two screw holes to either side, which was included with your Kohler faucet. Insert the appropriate two screws (included) and turn them clockwise once or twice until they hold. With the screws protruding from the ring, slip the ring onto the threads where you placed your two washers. Turn the ring in a clockwise motion until it sits about 1/4 inch from the faucet bottom with one screw at the front and one screw at the back. Tighten the screws a few turns each until the ring is firmly fastened in place.

Extend the hot and cold water supply lines from the bottom of the faucet until they reach your wall-mounted hot and cold water valves. Attach each line to the appropriate valve using your wrench. Place your large bucket beneath the faucet where the spray attachment line is hanging. Turn on your hot and cold wall-mounted valves. Turn on your faucet and rotate the handle for one minute. If your bucket fills, stop the process, empty the bucket and continue.

Install your spray line connector (included) to the spray attachment line extended from the bottom of the faucet. Press the connector on firmly until it is locked in place. Attach the flexible spray hose (included) to the other end of the spray line connector by pressing it in until it clicks into place.

Turn on the faucet and monitor all connections for any water drips or leaks. If you find any, tighten the faulty connection until the seepage stops.
