Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the backsplash area. Wash off any grease or dirt with a damp sponge and water. Allow this area to dry before applying the adhesive.

    • 2

Apply mastic (adhesive) to the backsplash. Use a ridged trowel to spread a thin layer of mastic onto the wall. Flip the trowel around to the ridged side and run the ridges along the mastic.

    • 3

Set the first tile. Start in one corner. Firmly press the tile into the mastic. Set the grout floats next to the tile and proceed to the next tile. If necessary, use a tile cutter to make a piece of tile fit. Continue until the entire backsplash is complete, setting grout floats between each tile.

    • 4

Apply grout between the tiles. Using a grout gun, remove the first set of grout floaters and apply a thin layer of grout between the tiles. Repeat this until all the tiles have been grouted.

    • 5

Wash off the tiles if necessary. Use a damp cloth to remove any excess grout on the tile before it sets. It is vital to do this before the grout sets or the grout will be difficult to remove.
