Turn the power off to the range hood wiring at the electrical distribution panel. Confirm the power is off by touching a non-contact voltage detector to the wire's insulation.
Unpack the power vent from its box and remove the filters and bottom panel by pulling them off with your hand.
Measure the size of the exhaust duct with a measuring tape. Some ducts draw from above the power vent and some pull from the back of the unit. Adjust the output duct on the power vent to meet the duct requirements according to the manufacturer's directions.
Punch out the access hole for the electrical wires by placing a screwdriver over the hole and striking the screwdriver from the back with a hammer. These holes are typically located at the top of back of the hood.
Hold the supplied outlet adapter over the opening and secure with two self-tapping screws and a drill. Apply aluminum foil tape around the joints between the outlet adapter and hood to provide an airtight seal.
Run the electrical wire through the access hole you knocked out.
Hold the range hood in position on the bottom of the cabinet aligning the outlet adapter with the exhaust duct. Have an assistant hold the range in position.
Secure the power vent to the bottom of the cabinetry with four wood screws the proper length so as not to penetrate all the way through the cabinetry.
Push open the vent dampener with you hand and make sure it moves freely.
Contact an electrician to connect the power wires to the range hood if you are not properly trained.
Reinstall the top panel and filters reversing the process used to remove them. Install the light bulb in its socket by turning it clockwise.
