How to Fix the Liner on a Refrigerator

Most refrigerators come equipped with a rubber lining on the inside of the door that is known as a gasket. This gasket helps to seal the door and prevent the cool air from seeping outside. This not only keeps your food cold, but it also saves on energy costs, as a leaky refrigerator door causes the unit to draw more energy. Gasket problems are common with refrigerator doors, and there are quick ways to fix them.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your refrigerator and open the door. Notice the rubber lining on the inside of the refrigerator door.

    • 2

Lift the lining up at the sides to expose the screws underneath the lining. You can use a putty knife to pry the lining off the side of the refrigerator if necessary.

    • 3

Tighten any screws with your flat-head screwdriver where the lining is loose.

    • 4

Run a line of hobby glue along any part of the liner that doesn't adhere to the refrigerator door. Press the liner back into place. Wait about five minutes for the glue to dry.
