Clean the backsplash area thoroughly with detergent and a nylon scourer. Rinse the backsplash, and then wipe the area with a clean, dry cloth. Let the area dry for an hour or two.
Read the instructions on the stick-on backsplash kit. If you have opted for a complete stick-on backsplash, then typically you only need to cut the tile sheets to size, remove the protective paper from the back of the tile sheets and press the tiles into position on the wall. Individual stick-on tiles need to be placed one by one in your chosen mosaic design and then grouted. Most stick-on backsplash kits come with premixed grout.
Apply the stick-on tiles as instructed, either in sheets or individually, depending on the type of kit you have chosen. If you have individual tiles that need grouting, sweep the grout into the joints of the tiles with a grout float, which should be held at an angle to the tile joints so that it delivers an even amount of grout into the joints and doesn’t pop off any tiles.
Wipe over the face of the grouted tiles with a clean cloth to remove any excess grout, and then let the grout dry for the time recommended in the backsplash kit instructions.
