  Remove each door from the cabinet by unscrewing the hinges. Remove any existing hardware from the doors. Mark each cabinet door to indicate where it belongs so you are able to reinstall them in the correct spots.

  Add decorative wood trim along the edges of the flat cabinet doors, using finishing nails and construction adhesive to hold the pieces in place. Use additional decorative trim or plain, narrow strips of wood to create raised designs in the middle of the door.

  Paint each area of the door a slightly different color to emphasize the contrast. This makes the molding look even more dimensional.

  Cut out the middle section of the cabinet door, if desired, to add a layered effect. Cover a thin piece of plywood with fabric or mosaic tiles. Attach the covered plywood to the back of the cabinet door so the fabric or tiles show through the front.
