Remove the cabinet doors. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the hinges from the cabinets and doors. Unscrew the hardware as well. Set aside the hardware and hinges.
Wipe down the cabinets and cabinet doors with mineral spirits and an abrasive pad. This should remove dirt and grease from the cabinets.
Sand the cabinets with fine grit sandpaper and an electric hand sander. Sand the cabinets enough to make the cabinets so they are no longer glossy. Wipe away the dust from the cabinets and cabinet doors with a damp cloth.
Apply primer to the cabinets with a foam paint roller and paint brush. Let the primer sit for two hours or until dry.
Hand sand the primed cabinets gently with fine grit sandpaper to remove bumps in the primed finish. Once the primed finished is smooth wipe down the cabinets with a damp cloth to remove the dust.
Choose a shade of red paint at your local home improvement or paint store.
Apply the first coat of country red paint to the cabinets and cabinet doors. Use the paintbrush to paint the hard to reach areas of the cabinetry. Cover the main areas of the cabinets with the foam paint roller. Allow the red paint to dry for two hours or until completely dry. Apply two more coats of paint, letting the paint dry between coats.
Give the cabinets a week to cure before reinstalling the hardware and doors.
