How to Make Cabinet Glass Blurry

Older cabinets that have glass can appear weathered if the glass has yellowed or become stained. Although you could have the glass replaced inside of the cabinet, replacing all of the glass can be costly. One alternative is to make the glass look blurry by applying a frosted glass finish onto the glass. A frosted glass finish transforms the glass in the cabinets in a beautiful and affordable way, allowing you to update your cabinet without spending a fortune to do so.

Instructions

    • 1

Tape plastic paint cloths over the wood of the cabinet using paint tape to protect the wood as you make the cabinet glass blurry. Paint tape can be applied and removed without affecting the cabinetry or leaving behind a residue.

    • 2

Spray a thin layer of frosted glass finish over the glass, keeping the spray can at least 12 inches away from the glass. Allow the frosted finish to dry for one hour.

    • 3

Spray a second thin layer of frosted glass finish over the glass using the same method as before. Allow the finish to dry for an additional hour.

    • 4

Peel off the paint tape and paint cloths gently. Peeling off the tape too quickly could cause the spray finish to tear along the edges.
