DIY Splash Guard Behind the Stove

The wall behind a kitchen stove is often splattered with liquid from bubbling pots and grease from frying pans. Protect this wall by installing a stainless steel wall panel behind the stove to act as a splash guard. These panels are sold at many home improvement stores. They can be quickly installed with just a few screws. Once installed, stains and residues can be easily wiped away with a damp sponge.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the stove away from the wall, so there is enough room to work behind it.

    • 2

Hold the stainless steel panel against the wall, so the bottom of the panel is level with the countertop.

    • 3

Mark the location of the screw holes onto the wall by tracing them with a pencil.

    • 4

Drill pilot holes into the wall where you had marked the screws in pencil. Do not drill any deeper than the length of the screws.

    • 5

Place the stainless steel panel against the wall, lining up the screw holes in the panel with the holes that you just drilled into the wall.

    • 6

Secure the panel to the wall by inserting screws through the holes in the panel and screwing them with a screwdriver into the pilot holes in the wall. Carefully push the stove back into place.
