How to Lay White FRP Panels Over Deck Boards

Also called fiberglass reinforced plastic panels, FRP panels provide a sanitary and durable option for wall surfaces. The use of FRP panels is common in hospitals, restrooms, classrooms, kitchens and recreational rooms. These panels are impact-resistant, moisture-proof and easy to clean, which make them a useful addition to any room that deals with excessive moisture and traffic. Covering deck boards with white FRP panels will give you a waterproof surface that you can wipe clean.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the deck boards of any dirt, dust or other debris with a damp lint-free cloth. Let the boards dry before continuing.

    • 2

Lay the white FRP panels facedown on a clean, flat surface. Cover the back of the panel with the adhesive. Use a trowel to spread the adhesive over the entire surface of the panel, moving the trowel in a crosshatch pattern.

    • 3

Place the white FRP panel adhesive-side down on the deck boards. Start at the top corner of the panel and roll a laminate roller over the surface while moving down and toward the opposite corner. Apply pressure when rolling the laminate roller to remove any air pockets.

Secure the panels in place with finishing nails at each corner. Wipe adhesive off the face of the panel with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. Let the adhesive dry. Remove the finishing nails carefully with the back of a hammer when the adhesive is dried.

Repeat steps 2 through 4 until you have covered the desired deck boards with the panels.
