How to Build Your Own Corner Back Wet Bar

A back bar is a countertop and shelving setup for mixing drinks that is placed out of the way, rather than as a prominent fixture in a room. A corner back bar is built to face out of a corner space. Add a functional sink and you have a corner back wet bar. Establishing your corner back bar in a spot that already has a sink eliminates the need to hire a professional plumber to help with the project. Otherwise, start your project by installing water lines in the desired location.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a set of corner cabinets the same height as the sink. Shut the water off and remove the sink. Install the counters in the corner according to manufacturer directions. Add the countertops and screw them in place with an electric screwdriver.

    • 2

Place the sink into the appropriate cabinet and reattach the water pipes. Use thread tape around the joining ends of the pipes to create a waterproof seal. Screw the pipes together using a pipe wrench. Turn the water on to test the seal. If the pipes leak, disconnect them and clean the ends. Retry the pipe connections until a watertight seal is created.

Measure a point on the wall with a tape measure where you desire the counter to be. Use a carpenter’s level to mark a straight line where you intend to place all the shelf brackets. Screw metal shelf brackets into the wall along the line with an electric screwdriver. Place the shelves on the shelf braces.

Smooth any rough edges down with sandpaper and paint the cornerback wet bar with durable, washable paint. Mount a large decorative mirror above the shelves on the wall. Once the paint dries completely, set up your bar with drinks and glasses.
