Purchase two sets of matching counters from the home improvement store. Lay the counters out with one against a wall and the other counter in front of the first. Leave enough space between the counters to bend over and retrieve items from the bottom shelf. Build the counters according to the manufacturer's directions.
Attach decorative poles to the back corners of the counter and place the other two poles at the front corners of the other counter. Frame in the top of the poles by screwing 1-by-6 wooden boards along the top of the poles with an electric screwdriver and fastening another set of boards down the pole at the lowest point of the canopy. This forms a box at the top of the canopy bar.
Measure the framed area on each side with a measuring tape. Cut 1/2-inch plywood with a reciprocal saw to the frame dimensions and screw into the boards. Measure the top and cover it with another piece of plywood. You now have a basic canopy bar.
Customize your canopy bar by attaching fancy wood trim to the edges of the canopy and the counters. Screw a wooden board with notches cut into it in the front area of the canopy to hang glasses upside down by their stems. Hang a large mirror on the back wall. Stain or paint the canopy bar so the top matches the pre-made counters.
