How to Install Baffled Light Trims

Installing baffled light trims serves several purposes. The trim provides an attractive look to the lighting fixture that hides the wiring and hardware of the fixture installation. It also covers the gap between the fixture and the rest of the surface surrounding the hole created for the fixture. Most important, it determines the way the light shines forth from the fixture, shaping the light within the trim body to reduce glare from the bulb. The process of installing the trim is simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the electric supply to the baffled light by flipping the circuit breaker marked for the room.

    • 2

Place the trim piece into the recess hole of the baffled light until the ledge along the top of the trim is flush against the surface that the light is installed into. Locate the two small hooked springs on the base of the trim piece.

    • 3

Stretch each spring slightly into the recess and place the hook on the end into the small screw hole at the base of the baffled light fixture, the hole where the screw was placed to secure the fixture to the wall stud or the ceiling joint. There should be two screw holes and two spring hooks.

    • 4

Screw the light bulb into the light socket and turn the circuit breaker back on.
