Turn off electricity to the bathroom. Attach the crossbar to the electrical box using two of the screws provided. Screw the screw through the crossbar and into the screw hole built into the electrical box edges.
Pull the electrical wires forward from the box area. Remove any wire nuts on the wires.
Place the fixture face down and pull the electrical wires forward from the back side. Follow the directions on the fixture to assemble it for installation. Strip off 3/4-inch of insulation from the end of each wire using wire strippers. Lift the fixture to the wall. Twist the ends of the white wires together and screw on a wire nut. Twist the ends of the black wire together and screw on a wire nut.
Screw the mounting plate on the back of the wall fixture to the crossbar using the fasteners provided. Many crossbars have a circular shape with attachment points anywhere along the long slots. This allows almost any fixture to be attached easily. Screw the mounting plate tight to the crossbar.
Slide the fixture canopy over the crossbar. The canopy is designed to hide everything from the wall to the fixture. Usually the canopy will have a set screw hidden along the underside that clamps the canopy to a discrete part of the fixture to hold it in place.
