Metal closet rods are made to expand so they fit in any size closet. These lightweight rods can hold a lot of weight despite being hollow. Over time, however, the heavy load of clothes can weaken a closet rod. When you encounter this problem, you don't have to buy a replacement. Instead, reinforce the rod yourself. No home-improvement expertise is required to perform this minor task.
