Measure and make a mark every 16 inches along the entire surface of both your 12-foot-long 2-by-6’s. Extend those lines all the way across using a square and make a mark on the right side of each of the lines.
Line your 8-foot 2-by-6’s up with the lines that you created and drive nails through the face of one 12-foot board into the ends of the 8-foot boards.
Stand up the other 12-foot 2-by-6 and push it against the 8-foot boards so that the marks are facing the boards.
Line the ends of the 8-foot boards up with the marks on the 12-foot board and drive two nails through the face of the 12-foot board into each of the 8-foot boards.
Apply subfloor glue along the top edge of all the 2-by-6’s using your caulk gun. Make sure the beads of glue are at least 1/4-inch thick.
Measure four feet from the end of both sides of your 8-foot plywood board and make a line going down the middle using a large straight edge, or chalk box.
Cut along the line using a circular saw to separate the plywood into two even pieces.
Lay one of the cut pieces of plywood down on top of the 2-by-6’s so that the edge is lined up with the edge of the 2-by-6’s. Screw the plywood down into the boards.
Lay a full sheet of plywood down on the boards, press the end of it against the other plywood piece and screw it into place.
Cut your 12-foot-long 1-by-4 deck boards into 12-foot lengths. Lay the first deck board down at the edge of the stage and screw it down into the plywood, then do the same with the others every three feet.
Continue adding boards until the stage is completely covered.
Use a stud finder to locate a stud in your ceiling.
Mark the ceiling over the top of the stage in the spot where you found the stud.
Position the top pole mount over the top of the mark you made and screw it into place with the provided screw.
Attach your plumb bob to a string and drop it down from the center of the upper mount until it reaches the stage.
Make a mark on the stage where the plumb bob touches.
Position the lower mount on your mark.
Set the pole in the lower mount and extend it until it reaches the upper mount. Extend the pole until it is tightly in place.
