Seat Length

• The two types of residential toilets sold are determined by the length of the seat. If the seat measures from 16 to 17 inches, then it is considered a round, or standard, toilet seat. If it measures 18 to 19 inches, then it would be considered elongated or oblong.

Seat Width

• Standard and elongated toilet seats should measure 14.5 inches wide and the distance between the hinge post holes should be 5.5 inches.

Seat Height

• For maximum comfort, it is recommended that your toilet seat height measure between 40 and 45 cm. A toilet seat that is too low could contribute to digestive complications and will be uncomfortable for the user. The seat should never cause one to lose circulation in their legs when they use the toilet.
