      Hire a septic system designer to create a system that meets city regulations. After receiving the design, call the Putnam County Health Department at 765-653-5210 to ask for a septic permit. If your lot is near a sewer line, call the Greencastle Wastewater Department at 765-653-3394 to ask for a sewer tap permit.

      Apply for a driveway permit from the city engineer. This permit covers digging in the city's right-of-way. Visit the street department, 502 N. College St. to receive the permit application. You must provide a $1,500 to $4,500 bond to guarantee the quality of the driveway construction. This must be a cashier's check or performance bond. The money is returned to you after the final inspection of the driveway.
