Construction Trailers Installation

Construction trailers are mobile, temporary buildings used as office space during the construction of a building. This allows the building contractors to have the use of an office on the building site. Construction trailers typically have all of the amenities the contractor has at their permanent office, including phones, computers, desks and lights.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure all pre-installation requirements are taken care of. Check with local building officials regarding the specific code requirements for installing a construction trailer before you begin set-up. Most areas require an application to be completed. This often must include a site plan with existing structures, easements, set-backs, and landscape buffers or preserves clearly marked. If a septic tank will be used for liquid waste, most areas require a septic permit. The application will often require submission of the floor plan of the trailer, as well as tie down and anchor information and handicap accessibility details.

Prepare the trailer site. Grade the trailer site so that it is as level as possible. Although construction trailers most often have leveling devices to counter some unevenness at the site, the trailer will be far more secure if the site itself is level. Remove any large boulders or other obstructions, such as tree stumps, and backfill any holes.

    • 3

Set the trailer. Once the trailer is delivered and placed in the desired location, block the trailer so that it cannot be moved. Use the level to determine if the trailer is level from end to end and from front to back. Make adjustments as needed. Anchor the trailer into place, to safeguard it against severe weather. Install the skirting around the bottom of the trailer and the steps, following the manufacturer's directions.

Connect the construction trailer utilities. Hire a licensed plumber and electrician to connect the needed water service, sewer and electricity. If phone or Internet service is desired, contact your local provider for installation.
